Frequently Asked Questions

1). “If I am interested in adding on to my home or changing the exterior color, am I required to get permission before proceeding?”  Yes. The BWHOA maintains and enforces the Bristol Woods Covenants and By-laws. The HOA Board and its Architectural and Environmental Control Committee (AECC) are responsible for reviewing requests for changes in the exterior appearance of your home.  Approval request forms can be obtained by email:  [email protected]  We ask that applications be submitted at least 30 days prior to the start of any project to change your home’s exterior appearance.  The Board meets monthly to review requests.

2). “Although I am not a Board member, I am a resident of Bristol Woods.
I am interested in attending a Board meeting. Is this OK?”
Yes.
The monthly Board meetings are open to all residents.  Most HOA Board meetings are held the 3rd Saturday of the month unless the meeting is replaced by a special event which will be indicated under the "Upcoming Events" section of the website.

3). “I have a complaint about a neighbor. Should I bring this up to the Board to resolve?” Yes and No. We ask that you work directly with your neighbor to resolve general problems. However, situations that involve questions about the Covenants and By-laws can be brought to the Board’s attention.

4). “There are no swim and tennis facilities at Bristol Woods. Why not?” There were no plans for swim and tennis facilities at Bristol Woods. While the BWHOA owns and maintains two undeveloped and fenced parcels of land on Cobblewood Trail, these lots are considered not build-able due to the steep drop off. Neither lot would support a home nor a recreation facility.  Feel free to join other nearby swim and tennis facilities.

5). “I like to take my dog on walks throughout the neighborhood.  Are there rules and expectations for this?”  We encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the neighborhood.  For your safety, we recommend use of the sidewalks throughout Bristol Woods.  Also, it is your responsibility to clean up after your pets.  We have installed pet refuse bag stands near each of the entrances for your convenience.  Be sure to dispose of your pet refuse bags at home.  As a reminder, county ordinances require dogs to be on leashes when outside your home, yard, or fenced area.

6). “I want to maintain a good sense of safety for myself and my family. Are there steps I can take?”  Yes. The BWHOA is now an official Neighborhood Watch community.  If you are interested in serving as a street captain for your street, please contact the Board.  We also strongly recommend that you join nextdoor.com.  This program is endorsed by local law enforcement.  It's a way you can receive and provide current and important safety information around your home area.  You can receive up-to-date alerts on activity in and around Bristol Woods as well as share information you have.  Please join today so you can stay alert and alert others.

While Bristol Woods is considered very safe and incidents have been rare, we encourage all residents to practice essential safety measures, including locking home and car doors at night, closing garage doors when not in use, keeping yards and shrubs neat and trimmed, and utilizing lighting to enhance safety around your home at night. The Board will continue to pursue safety-related initiatives and we welcome your support and involvement.  We also ask everyone to observe the 25 MPH speed limit throughout the neighborhood. The Bristol Woods HOA Board of Directors recommends a speed limit of 20 MPH - remember, our children are active and are in the streets.  Help us to keep all residents safe.  Board  members will visit the homes of those drivers who have been seen speeding in the neighborhood.
